SeedExt

The client, SeedExt is a french startup founded on the principles of mutual aid, sharing and innovation. Their objective is to offer office workers and companies a service that uses artificial intelligence.

The dual challenge

Define our client's market in order to define the conceptual idea. Then build a knowledge sharing platform for companies.

Market research for a conceptual idea

Our first objective was to define the conceptual idea based on the information provided by the company and our market research.

What were the basics that had to be worked on from the interview with the CEO?

  • Values involved: Mutual aid, Sharing, Innovation

  • Type of market: B2B, SaaS

  • Device: desktop/ extensions

  • Added value: Artificial intelligence

Further researchs on direct competitors

The research consisted of:

  • analysing the interfaces and their functionalities,

  • identifying the messaging tools

  • understanding what artificial intelligence is and how it fits into their products

Analyze direct & indirect competitors

The start-up operates with 3 categories of direct and indirect competitor.

  • the platform of sharing knowledge

  • the content creation tools

  • the tools of questions/ answers

What we discovered in addition

Through large-scale studies, we have obtained key information to define a potential direction to take.

Finally, what comes out?

There are 4 categories of services to take into account for the project

User research

Getting answers to the doubts we had, identifying trends through surveys until we understand the pain points and needs of users.

The strength of the surveys

The results confirmed that people retain better information through visualization.

The daily communication tools of office workers

In addition, Teams and Slack are the most common tools to communicate at work.

This is an important element to take into account in order to propose a solution that integrates into the working environment and brings real added value.

What the interviews say about their pain points

  • Not sure if the question has been asked before

  • Availability of their colleagues & manager

  • Have the right information

  • Centralized information

  • Time spent to look for information

User persona

Emma is an office worker within a team, motivated by optimizing her time and by sharing knowledge with your colleagues.

Her goals are to work efficiently, meet deadlines to complete her tasks and avoid wasting time.

Solution

For office workers who are stuck in their work and want to ask help from their colleagues rather than waste time looking for information on the internet,

Our product is a platform that will allow Emma to ask her question with a video and get a personalized answer from her colleagues.

SeedExt is fitted with an artificial intelligence that will

  • automatically transcribe audio and analyze your problem,

  • identify the key issue topics for you,

  • share your problem with colleagues who have the right skills.

How users helped design the interface

After each step of the prototype design we conducted tests with potential users:

  • Concept testing

As soon as the low-fidelity (pen and paper) version was done, we made sure that the concept was validated by potential users. This proved to be a satisfactory step in the design process.

  • Usability test

The results led to adjusting the interface such as the size of the elements and the typography, removing icons, improving consistency.

  • Desideratability test

We are proud that our solution made a great impression on our testers. This is key information that will certainly be of use to the company that gave us this challenge.

Value proposition

In order to fully meet the challenge entrusted to us, we have established this value proposition as follows.

The situation of Emma with this product

Finally, if Emma had had the opportunity to explain her problem on the platform,

  • Emma would have had time for other tasks,

  • Emma would have been surprised by the skills of her colleagues,

  • Emma would have done a good job.

Next steps

For the future, the following axes should be exploited to make the SeedExt tool functional.

UX/UI Design

  • Work on the onboarding

  • Design “help/settings/log out” sections

Technology

  • Artificial Intelligence (Machine learning, Natural Language Processing)

  • Algorythms

  • Screen recording tool

  • Security of data

One more thing

My professional experience allowed me to contribute as much as my teammate to the organisational, analytical and creative rigour throughout the project.

With this in mind, we were able to go far in our research while defining the limits of our project to propose a viable and innovative solution.

This final project was intense because of the two challenges we had to achieve and this was all the more motivating for me.
